If you haven’t driven the Sea to Sky Highway yet, please do it now. It’s the road from Vancouver, BC to Whistler and it has some of the best views imaginable. It’s also a fantastic drive from a traffic/police/curviness/speed point of view.

You know what’s a good drive? OR97 north just before exiting onto OR26.

I haven’t explored central Oregon that much. I’ll have to make it out there sometime.

The rural highways are usually pretty empty. 26 east of Portland is pretty cool. I84 runs through the Columbia River Gorge, which is pretty.

Yup, many trips up that road to Squamish over the years, in a variety of vehicles, including on my moto.

97 between Biggs Junction to Madras is a good drive, except for occasional suicidal deer.

Elk are a big problem in western Oregon. I was driving up the Oregon coast late at night, and I constantly saw “Elk” signs. I was driving a Honda Fit. I was scared.

It was more fun before they widened it and made it safer, but also less people crash now, which is good. I haven't been up there in a few months, that's definitely something to do this summer. Ever hiked the chief?

No, but it’s as good an excuse as any to go back.

I highly recommend it, the view from any of the “peaks” is well worth the hike. When I went we went to three of them, including the unofficial one with rungs driven into a rock face to make a ladder. It can get busy though
